As you can see, I'm still fiddling with the series name. I think this post's title "CRV Diary..." and what-ever, is my favorite and will be a permanent series title. I assume it's a series worth continuing...
uhhh...
This is a slightly interesting series, right?
Trash talk, finance, numbers, advice, and MONEY!!! We all like this series, right? It's not a sympathy tale. We all know that, right? I'm just sharing something about numbers and logistics and infrastructure... RIGHT?!?
I like it. I like to see what happens after 10 or 33 of these posts are complete. What about looking back a year from now? What if the prices are crazy different, high or low... or just gone?
I collect it all while exercising and or while waiting for people to return rental boats... working.
:)
Maximize yer hourly rate much?
Let's go!
First, get the weighing containers... trash barrels with the tare weight written on then. I always suggest avoid the ones with wheels and handles missing. They don't weigh the same as they did when someone sprayed the weight on the sides.
Get the simple or new and complete containers. SOMETIMES, all the good ones get stuck to the inside of it another. It's all filthy and removing them is gross.
My Haul For 05182022
I don't collect much glass intentionally, but it's there so, I'll take it sometimes. It's mostly mine though. I drink lots of mineral water that comes in glass bottles. I like bubbles. The image blow shows my glass haul. It's shallow compared to most people's loads.
Plastic bottles and aluminum cans are the best. They are light, compact-able, and they pay out the most. We can see my haul in the image below. It's not much. Shallow again, but I expected that.
I was very casual about collecting this round. I was satisfied with the time I was grinding away at the job. My feet hurt and it's time to conserve before getting new shoes.
None of this is "mine". I fished most of this haul out of a few random trash cans at work and while exercising. All that while walking around a few regular spots.
It's like a memory game, track the recyclable items I see as I walk in. Then, as I walk back along the same path to leave, I collect the items. Aluminum cans get priority and then plastic bottles. (Watch-out for yellow water bottles.) Glass is heavy. I only collect it if I find a bag first and if it's abundant.
RANT
Our income is taxed, we use the taxed proceeds to buy taxed items. The item is for work and the item loses it usability through work related wear and tear and then it's gone...
...and then you have nothing unless you use your taxed income to purchase more taxed items for work...
...only to have it deteriorate and require a person to yet again use taxed income to purchase taxed items for a taxable job...
I'll take a break now.
Gonna melt some Swiss cheese now.
Have a nice rent.
Quarks I Discovered
The recycling center is interesting if you've never been. It's like binging in a Sesame Street segment where they go into a factory to look around... almost... kinda... like it. Stinks though. Sesame Street didn't look stanky.
I'm sure they are all different... i'm kinda new...
This place has a giant engine block on the ground next to the dumpster. For the longeset time, I thought it was something that they couldn't recycle or get rid of... whatever.
Notice the newer chain. One day, I watch them use the engine block to smash the trash that customers place into their trash dumpster.
A crafty guy gets on a forklift, lifts the engine block, and lowers it onto the bloated dumpster's trash.
The Money
I get paid to walk around while helping my heart and wallet a little. Maximizing work make me feel better about grinding.
Look what I got.
$6.96 is cool. I'll use that to buy a large torpedo sandwich at the local Italian deli while I wait for a boat to return. It's a lot of bread, but I ask for extra #peppers and that creates extra juice and oil. Yummy trick you gonna try it.
Cashier gave me $7 instead. I'm not sure if the cashier is just being polite or flirty.
I think it's amazing that the prices are the same on the sign. Maybe it doesn't fluctuate as much as I thought .
Peace.
