Hello everyone; I hope you are all well. Today I'm presenting a portrait I created using a blue and black Schneider pen.
I drew this portrait on A4 white paper. It's a realistic and expressive drawing of a young African boy, smiling broadly. He is 14 years old, and I depicted his torso, slightly in three-quarter view. He is looking directly at me with a frank and joyful smile that reveals his teeth. When creating the portrait, I went with my gut feeling. I didn't necessarily try to pause and consider the dimensions of the artwork, the drawing I was creating. This led me to make several corrections to adjust the dimensions. I started with scribbles for the hair using a black Schneider pen, then continued with the blue pen, using dense lines that were sometimes scattered, without necessarily following any rules. I used very fine, cross-hatched lines to create volume, shadows, and textures. The curly hair is rendered with overlapping, circular strokes.
I tried to work on the face with great precision: cheekbones, nose, lips, and especially the eyes, which have a beautiful depth.
The t-shirt is sketched with freer lines, giving an impression of movement and naturalness.
Realistic with an expressive touch. Despite using only one color (blue), the drawing exudes great vitality thanks to the density of the lines and the facial expression.
This drawing conveys a positive, luminous, and spontaneous emotion—the joy of life and the innocence of childhood.
