For more info on the possibilities of what could be created with the prompts, I tend to google them. The first idea that came to mind was to draw a watchman patrolling a city. So I search watchman, and to my surprise, I saw a completely different type of Watchman.
This Watchman is as small as a coin and is usually placed into the human body specifically an organ which is the heart. So this device is used to prevent strokes in people who have atrial fibrillation and atrial fibrillation affects your heart’s ability to pump blood. It’s an alternative to blood thinners also. I was pretty overwhelmed by this new information and much more so by how the device is implanted into the body. I suggest you read more on it! But it’s a really cool device.
Process!
Materials: UniPin ink pens, Royal Talens Indian Ink, Winsor & Newton watercolor and brushes, Sinoart sketchbook
I wanted to go in a different direction this time in such a way that the painting is expressive in nature, so I went with the flow as I sketched.
After this, I used the pens to shade the Watchman device. I hoped for a strong cast shadow when shading but it seemed as if it was distorting the shape of the object so I stopped. This was especially with the watchman to the left.
In the moment, I put in a soft red background . As the painting dried, I hoped it would maintain the areas concentrated with reds, but it didn’t. Either way it looks awesome!
