The silver -breasted broadbill caught my attention at first sight. The complementary colors on its feathers seemed to blend into one another and couldn’t help but create a character to suit its colorful plumage! The broadbill can be found in Cambodia, China , India, Thailand and a few other countries.
Drawing the character took me by surprise as I was able to successfully draw a full figure especially one with less drapery, from my mind, I guess the practice so far is paying off!
This painting is also the final piece in the bird series for this month! Thank you for the support so far! To compliment not posting yesterday, I included a photo of some bird studies I did today.
Looking forward, I’m hoping to participate in inktober again this year! It can be draining sometimes but I can’t help but look forward to improving in my art. I’m hoping you’ll stick around to see what I create!
PROCESS!
Materials: Van Gogh watercolor, Winsor & Newton watercolor & brushes, Sinoart sketchbook , ink pens
I started off with a sketch of the bird and the character
Next, I painted in the first wash layers. I wanted the girl’s bodysuit to be made of leather, so I made sure to leave sufficient blank spaces to serve as highlights . After this I continued painting in layers , before proceeding to add the smaller details
Close Ups On The Final Painting!
Compilation of the paintings in the bird series so far!
I was hoping to maintain my streak till the last day of this month , but life happens lol. Here are the studies I did of a Bluethroat, it’s a really pretty bird!
Here’s a few paintings from last year’s inktober which I participated in. I’m looking forward to this year’s!
Thank You For Viewing!
