Hello friends,
Today I decided to draw a gymnast. My daughter does gymnastics for the little ones. She really enjoys it, and n fact she is one of the best students there. Her friend goes with her as well, so it’s more fun for them to be together there. They had a little performance in December for the parents, it was really cute. It is not heavy professional gymnastics as I think for beginners. Children there are taught to sit on the splits, do a cartwheel, a bridge, and other simple elements of gymnastics. It’s interesting to note that all the kids at this gymnastics wear more covered leotards, and not those classic once. I actually like it more, because I think even if they are just kids their bodies shouldn’t be exposed to the strangers. The world’s gone crazy nowadays and we have to keep our kids educated in this area and safe.
Materials used.
Regular pencil
Pink Eraser
Sketching paper
Hard charcoal
- Today I drew with a pencil and charcoal. As usual I started with a light pencil sketch and tried to catch this line where a gymnast does a backflip.
- Once I found this line I began to work on the drawing in more detail, drawing shadows here and there.
- While drawing my charcoal broke, and I took another one. This charcoal was a better brand (Winsor&Newton, and a previous one was from Artist Loft), and I liked working with them more.
In general, little by little I added details here and there, shadows and curves of the lines of the gymnast, but I have not gone too much into detail because it is a sketch.
- This is the sketch I have at the end. I try to draw every day not to lose practice. In drawing as in any other business practice is very important.
Fragments of the sketch.
I hope you enjoyed the process photos.
