Jang Hyuk Portrait Series | "Gangneung" Crime Noir Press Junket

Hi all, this is the eighth portrait under my Jang Hyuk Portrait Series. I have two more that I have not shared on Hive but I think the number won't stop at 10 as I plan to make more fanart of this man 😆. You can find the links to previous portraits towards the end of this post.

❤️ Jang Hyuk In "Gangneung" Press Junket ❤️

The reference image of this portrait is taken from Gangneung (English title: Tomb of the River / Pain In Blood) press junket in 2021. Gangneung is a crime noir that Jang Hyuk starred in 2021.

Jang Hyuk played the role of a Seoul crime lord, Lee Min-Seok, who was in conflict with another leader of a crime gang, Chairman Oh, over a newly constructed resort in Gangneung. Gangneung is a city by the sea in the province of Gangwon-do, on the east coast of South Korea.

I watched this movie when it was released in 2021 and since it's noir, it has plenty of gory fight scenes between the two criminal gangs. No romance scenes of course and the film has only one female character, Eun-Seon, who sold her body to Min Seok to pay for her debts. Unless you are a fan of noir genre, this movie is not for you. It's dark and violent. I watched it solely because of Jang Hyuk and no other reason.

Two of Jang Hyuk's close friends in real life (Shin Seung-hwan and Choi Ki-Seop) also starred in it as Min Seok side kicks.
