Here’s a recent oil painting I did of a trail near my house. It is based on a photo I took in late afternoon when the moss was hit by sunlight and there were long afternoon shadows coming diagonally down the trail.

As you can see from the reference photo, I exaggerated the light hitting the moss and also the light at the top of the trail. I wanted the top of the trail as it goes over the hill to be the focal point so I added light to that point of the trail. That’s the great thing about painting versus photography, if the light isn’t what you want, change it in paint! I hope you enjoy seeing this little painting.
