Sweet alyssums have always been among my favorite plants -- they are TRULY perennial in San Francisco where I live, and a couple of them are going to struggle and triumph even in January and February -- one will be coming home on those early winter nights, and a neighbor's light catching the white blooms will show that somehow, the little warmth of the day has caused a few sweet alyssums to pop on up.
This was a FIND, not quite intentional ... I was actually working on THIS in Apophysis 2.09...
... and the general idea for this flower fractal is the play between light and dark, on a dark rendering background. I noticed that the center bit looked somewhat familiar, and then it hit me ...

But still, like January and February, there was no way for me to bring out the perfect shape and color of a mound of sweet alyssums ... so, I had to go to the extremes of dark and light ...
... and then invert to get two perfect blooms, on full dark ...
The greater, not the perfect beauty ... I found that there was no further way to improve on what the math of Apophysis 2.09 had given me, so, we will just enjoy my favorite winter night surprise for what it is!
