Hello to anyone reading this! How are you? Hope you are doing great!
I'm always scared to share my work with new people but by insistence of my big sister () here I am, in a mix of anxiety and expectation :')
This time I'm going to show you the process of my latest artwork "titled" (titled for the sole purpose of this post) "THE DOWNFALL OF ARMANDO MENDOZA". Armando Mendoza is one of the two leads of the famous Colombian Telenovela "Yo Soy Betty, La Fea", a show that KEPT ME SANE and got me into drawing again last year during the start of the Coronavirus Lockdown. Not getting into details becasuse otherwise I won't ever finish this post but Armando has one of my favorite character arcs of all times, I'm not going to explain but I WILL say you should defenitely go watch it, it's on Netflix (and it's an absolute GEM).
(This artwork was created with Photoshop CS6.)
I started this piece as always with a rough sketch, trying to get all the features in the right place.
Then I start to lay down some shadows to define the depths of the face.
At this point I make a new layer and paint over to get as close to the reference picture as possible.
I didn't like the subject against the white background on it's own, so I decided to throw in some elements to make it more interesting/apealing and noise overlays to wrap it all up. And here's the final image.
If you made it this far THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS! You can find this piece on my instagram .
Until next time! Bye!
