He was wearing a white dress shirt
with a black necktie
and a pair of black slacks.
He was holding a wine glass on his other hand
while the other was busy
loosening up his tie.
Avenues of the Diamond
This is another story by 4reuminct. Lately, her stories were what inspire me to draw. While the story is currently ongoing and has less than 10 chapters under its belt, one of its characters has definitely stolen the hearts of readers.
Including mine, by the way.
His name was Clyden "Cy" Ramirez, a medical student from the University of the Philippines. I liked him initially because I was waiting for a UP student character (I'm an alumna) and heck, this guy was smart, full of wit, sure of himself, but crazy rude.
UP students were known to be very vocal about their political opinions, and Cy was one of them. After his graduation, he was bound to marry the daughter of his father's best friend, Samantha Vera, whose father happened to be a corrupt politician that Cy disliked.
Drawing Cy Ramirez
Inspired by Sam's first impression of Cy during their first personal meeting, I came up with the above illustration.
Cy was nonchalant but good-looking, with black hair swiped back with few strands falling onto his forehead. He was sarcastic and cynical, and he had a very smart albeit rude mouth.
Lineart
Using MediBang Paint, I did a quick sketch with the pencil brush before defining the lineart with the pen brush. The pen brush is sharper and "heavier."
Drawing hands and arms wasn't really my strongest suit, so I had to be a little more particular with that in this illustration. I think compared to how I was before, I did better with the hands this time.
Colors
Colors were centered around maroon, the UP color. Base colors were filled using the pen brush. Other brushes for details used were pencil brush, air brush, and watercolor brush.
MediBang brushes used in the drawing, from top to bottom: pencil, pen, watercolor, airbrush.

Notes
If I must say so myself, I think I have a crush on imaginary Cy. I think a lot of other girls follow the same sentiment because look!
The tweet got quite a lot of attention.
Many readers in Twitter actually liked and retweeted this tweet on Cy. Which literally took me by surprise. That was the first time my phone notified me nonstop about likes and retweets.
At any rate, this kind of coloring is still a new thing to me, and I have yet to learn more. I'll try to post my practices (and in effect, progress -- I hope) here in Hive!
