Gm everyone,
For those following my oil painting journey, you will know I've stated my fears for colored painting. That was why I started with monochrome. My previous oil painting happens to be in black and white and thats because its my comfort zone. I decided to leave my comfort zone by trying out colored painting and like I anticipated, it wasn't easy at all. My main problem lies with creating a good pallette with the right skin tone. I had to watch few YouTube videos and did some mixing myself. After a while I came up with one which in my opinion isn't good enough but it's something to start with. With that, I started the painting. At the beginning, it wasn't that hard cus I usually start from the eyes, then forehead after which I will work my way down.
Where I started encountering issues with the painting was when I got to the darker parts. My color was giving a way darker result and it wasn't blending with the other parts right. Had to tone down the darkness and started working my way through it.
In general, it was a challenging one compared to my previous paintings but I'm glad I did it. I've learnt quite a lot and thankfully, my artist friend already promised me he'd teach me how to mix the colors to get a good pallete and skin tones.
