Good morning everyone,
I bring to you my recent art piece. Its a digital drawing which I titled "Oya". The drawing shows a woman with a red wrapper tied around her chest and a long hair that is packed periodically. She has bright eyes as though its about to light a place and the same lightness is seen in her mouth. She has a smiling look on her face like she's about to do something magnificent.
The name I gave her "Oya" is a name of a river goddess in Nigeria specifically the river Niger. One of the two main rivers found in Nigeria. She's a wife to another god named Sango and she's also the goddess of storm, lightening and wind. She's strong, fierce and can be brutal.
The drawing is an imagination of how I portray she will look like. A black beautiful, thick and bold woman. In Yoruba there is a saying that, hair is the beauty of a woman so I gave her a long full hair. Also to signify that she's from the Yoruba tribe, I gave her a Yoruba tribal mark. Her glowing eyes and mouth shows that she is a powerful being of which she truly is. The choice of her clothing, is one commonly used among the ancient yoruba people. And I choose red color to represents her powers too.
The drawing was done on Autodesk Sketchbook using primary pencil on black background.
