Another day, another daily sketch. For today's prompt, it's "a peaceful beach scene" and it reminded me of the island back in Phuket, Thailand.
This was in a resort called Island Escape and we were just here at the right time. The borders were just starting to open after covid so there wasn't much tourists here (and in Thailand in general) so this place was SO PEACEFUL and sometimes we think we rented the whole resort for ourselves lol. I could probably say there were 20-30 tourists at that time in this big resort and we don't even bump with each other that much. So everytime we go to the beach or the pool, sometimes there were only like maybe 5 people around including the staff. XD Good times. Of course the situation is different now and I heard Phuket became expensive AF.
My weakness is landscapes as I don't really draw them that much. I'm only interested drawing them when it's the background lol but I'm a portrait person so.
Drawing landscapes are quite a "different category" for me so it's a bit difficult. There are several principles you'd have to follow when it comes to distance so you'll have a clear separation of the foreground, middle ground, and background - so they don't look "flat". Like the saturation of the farthest object should be less as well as the contrast... and the foreground will have the clearest (like a focus in camera) and most saturated you will have... but also it will depend on the position of light, so like I said it is complicated LOL.
Well of course I didn't apply that to myself. It's more difficult in black and white I would say and I overdid with the shading in the background. Anyway, good lesson. :D
