I was reading a book in my room when Mew came in and sat by the window. The window has a clear glass where he could watch the birds fly by and probably some random cats outside that wander... so he likes doing it.
A few moments went by and I looked at him and he got into this cute position and dozed off. I had my AC on and was pointing close to the window while the sun was blazing hot outside, so I guess that kind of temperature was a balance for him lol.
I quickly took my sketchpad and oil pastels on my table to draw while he's in the position. I know he could get off anytime for whatever reason, a lot of times when I'm drawing him as well... so I had to be very quick. I really like the contrast of him against the bright day outside.
I chose his color to be blue to compliment the color outside.
I've never used oil pastels in a long time. It is quite the same with oil painting except it's a lil bit harder to blend (probably depends on the brand too). But I keep oil pastels nearby so I can have a quick drawing with colors without having to use paint which takes a lot of time with preparations and color mixings.
At this point he started changing positions and minutes later jumped off and went outside my room. He likes to sleep with his belly exposed so this position and place is not ideal for that and he might fall if he sleeps too deeply.
Luckily I took a photo of him right before I started drawing him so I used that to continue the drawing although it was slightly a different position from the one I was drawing. I had to use my imagination and memory to get it right. XD
I wasn't very sure of what colors to use for the outside but I was keeping in mind the contrast. This oil pastel brand is quite cheap, so it gives a bit of a waxy feel and not really great with blending. It does its job though.
The Sakura brand on the other hand (lower right) was pretty good and blends well. But I only had 12 colors for this set so I was using both brands. Not a big deal though.
Here's the finished drawing. I really like the blue and yellow and also the blue green wall to pair it with. It's amazing how contrast can put the picture together nicely. In this case, I also applied contrast of temperature, cold inside and warm for the outside. Pretty good!
Mew reminds me of a cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland but instead he's the one dozing off lol.
