Frank "rocky" Fiegel
Hola amigos / Hello friends
Hello everyone today I share with you the pencil portrait of the real face of popeye. This is Frank "Rocky" Fiegel the sailor who inspired the creator of this character Elzie Crisler Segar who first appeared in a comic strip on January 17, 1929.
Fiegel was a Pole who lived in the state of Illinois and, according to what was known, he was a person who used to have an extreme temper that led him to fight continuously, even without measuring opponents; he even got into fist fights with men much bigger than him. What was striking was that, although he was a small person, his strength was not and in almost every opportunity he was victorious. Fiegel was also known for other facets: his kindness and -above all- his affection for children and his nickname, "Pop eye".
