Phase 1 - Loyalty Mapping
The dog began as a blueprint. Loose shapes, construction lines, simple face grid. Cylinders and curves were used for figures. Little pressure came from the pen, letting mistakes be forgiving. This stage is where learning about the dog took place. Drawing it did not happen.
Phase 2 – Strengthening Defines Itself
“Next comes the dog’s posture, which becomes firm,”
The legs were straightened, the chest broadened, the head differentiated. The floppy ears were located properly in their sockets. You removed the sketch by accenting only the right lines and allowing the wrong ones to recede into the background, like abandoned ideas.
3° Factor - Fur, Weight, Emotion A dog
This was the longest phase. Fur was added layer by layer with direction strokes. Darker ink was added for the mane, chest, and tail. Shades beneath the body helped the dog settle on the page. Dark strokes were added to define the eyes, but not too much, as the dog was meant to be kind and loyal.
Step 4: A Finished Companion "Norma" In the final stage, contrast was encouraged just enough. The darkest areas were added with a careful touch. The figure was now complete and full of balance and calmness. Looking at it once more, I signed it with my final signature "Dip," thanking the dog for being so still.
