Hello, how are you? I've been using my oil pastels and decided to draw a portrait again. Yesterday, the weather was not that hot and bearable, so an idea came to my mind. The funny thing is I made a sketchbook for all the portraits I draw using oil pastel, but I did not stick to the plan and use it as a planner, sketching pencil, etc, etc. But it still has an empty page, so I decided to draw on it.
So I found a reference from Pinterest and decided she is the one. LOL
Materials I Used:
- Oil Pastel
- Notebook
- Scraper
- Reference
The Process:
I used this pink oil pastel to draw the reference, it didn't have to be perfect. I think I did a good job. I guess at least my muscle memory still works.
Then I use this Brown oil pastel to fix the line art.
After that, I used this yellow ochre to fill the skin.
Then I layer the line art with darker line art using Vandyke brown oil pastel.
To add more redness to her, I use this pink oil pastel layer.
Then I started filling the lips with red oil pastel.
Next is I used Ultramarine to fill up the eyes.
Next is I used this pale orange to layer the skin.
After that, I use this pale brown to layer the other colors.
Next is I use Vermillion to add more saturation to the blush and lips.
After that, I use this black oil pastel to add more intense dark to the part that needed to be darkened.
Using this Vandyke brown, I fill the hair with it.
Using the black oil pastel, I added more darker shadow on that part that needed to be layered.
I used this yellow-green oil pastel to layer the skin.
Next is I am going to use this gray oil pastel to blend the hair and the clothes.
For the final layer, I used this white oil pastel to blend the skin.
After that I decided to use this clay tool to scrape the oil pastel portrait to add texture.
Then I sign it using this colored pencil.
Here is the final portrait.
Thank you for visiting, see you on my next blog. :D
