Hello everyone, today I decided to do something more fun and whimsical by drawing and painting an odd body. The concept of an odd body illustration was learnt from Tom Froese who has a tutorial on this on skillshare. I learnt from him how to create an odd body on a whim by drawing different random shapes and placing a human body and also making sure that body occupies the entire space. You can begin to imagine the various ways you'd need to squeeze a person and how oddly they'd turn out if you put them in a hexagonal space for example.
For this one, I started with those guiding principles and I came up with this as my final result
I started with an outline and this outline is after I'd erased the initial weird shape I'd drawn for my odd body to sit in. Unfortunately I did not take a screenshot of this.
Then I picked my colors. I knew I would go for a complementary color scheme and I liked the feel of blue today, so I did that and picked orange as well and of course I've mentioned before that I like pink, so I decided to make her hair pink.
At this stage, I felt I could add some dimension to the body and clothes and I did that by setting a new layer to 'soft glow' and painting over the parts I wanted to highlight in the same color they were on a normal layer.
I thought I could further improve on the background by also painting over with the layer set to soft glow
And then I blended
Cheers!
