Bat - Ink Drawing, 21x16 cm, 2022
When I sat down to think about drawing the bat, I envisioned it with these crazy, googly eyes. My first reaction to what I pictured in my mind was giggles. I began ugly sketching while playing the mini golf game with my family and while waiting around in the Apex Legends lobbies. It formed quickly and organically. I was so happy with how cute it turned out! Right? The purple galaxy bat!
Tools and materials I used to create my cute, flying rodent creature:
Hahnemühle Mixed Media paper 310 g/m² 21x16 cm. This paper is perfect for ink drawings. It does not absorb in so quickly, and that gives some room to play around with cool effects and splashes. Faber Castell pencil 2b is my favorite pencil softness for sketching. The Pigma Brush pen is perfect for line work. Once it goes on the paper, it does not bleed with the touch of water. Diamine drawing & calligraphy ink. I picked the purple one for the wings and ears and the jet black one for the body of the bat. I used van Gogh 191 selected filament brushes 0 and 9 for painting with the liquid inks. For some cool galaxy/dot effects, I used a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen 08. And finally, for the background, I used Diamine fountain pen ink - Sherwood Green. When you add water to it, you can never know if you will get warmer green or cooler blue tones. And yes, I still add backgrounds last in my drawings/paintings. xD
Here are some details close up.
My gargoyle now has a new buddy! Aww, look at the winged weirdos! ^^
I hope you like my silly purple bat! Thank you for stopping by and for all your support! I will be back with another ink drawing soon!
