If you still remember, in the past, I mentioned that I used the cheapest watercolor that anyone can find and possibly the cheapest in the world too. Then, a few weeks after that, I upgraded to Faber Castell and got myself a watercolor sketchbook, 12 colors Faber Castell and upgraded the brush to Faber Castell. Honestly, I was hoping I could find something that others use instead of generic Faber Castell but living in a small town at that time, they only had that one as the best option. Now that I am in a bigger city, I can find better quality watercolor and it would be much easier to find something that others/professionals use as well. Am I satisfied with the result from Faber Castell?
I would say, it is such an upgrade from $0.80. The colors become even more vivid, itโs easy to work with and also the pigment is better. As a hobbyist, for now itโs something I am happy with. I started getting back into it just yesterday when I spent about 2 hours making this. Today, I spent another 2 hours trying new stuff as well. This one below is called Batik Kawung, a very easy motif to draw. However, I still have to learn to draw it from this channel. I actually rarely see people color it with watercolor but since itโs a method that I want to improve, I decided to just use it. With this simple tube Faber Castell, I got the result that I desired. Paired with the brushes, it just matches made in heaven. In the past, I always used cheap brushes from joyko brand and I donโt like the bristles and how they easily break too. Painting with Faber castell brushes also provides more stability and easy experience as well. The brush is nice and soft. I am pretty sure there are even better brushes but for now, I am happy with what I have.
