Hello, Dear Hivers | Hola, Queridos Hivers
When I was in 8th grade, I started writing a musical about a singer and a dancer who fell in love and had to fight against all the drama I had in mind to make the musical interesting. I never finished it, though I did had the complete story in my head and got to write some song's sketches... sketches I found a month ago.
The protagonists meet while the girl is singing her theme song, which is "Imagine". That was the first song I wrote for the musical. The lyrics wasn't so good because at that time I still didn't know much English, but the rhythm and the idea were great, so I chose some chords, put it some music and voilà! All I had to do left was fix the lyrics, but between all the homework I had I just couldn't, so I decided to leave it for another time.
I have a video game called "Episode" which I played in the gaps I had between homework, and in one of the stories I was reading, there were beautiful art scenes. The kind of art they used really called my attention and I wanted to try it out, but, what to draw?
Then it hit me: 🎶"Just imagine us, dancing in the middle of the hall, under the spotlight..."🎶
I immediately went "manos a la obra"!
Process:
I made a little sketch and then used the amplifying squares to make it bigger but accurate to the original design.
After drawing the shapes I looked for my paints and some water. When you mix them you have an effect as if you were painting with watercolors, and I wanted that effect, that way it would look really cute.
Then I mended the lines that the paint had erased with a black marker and with my color pencils I made the shadows of the face, the clothes, etc.
I also made some highlights with the white color pencil.
Finally with a thicker black marker I made the background.
AND DONE!
It wasn't perfect, but for a first try I'm really satisfied.
Did you like it?
If you make this kind of art, and you have some tips to help me improve, please leave them in the comments below
