Today, while browsing Pinterest in search of inspiration, I found several fan arts about elementals or the different elements—water, air, fire, earth. Some had anthropomorphic forms, others were cuter and more cartoonish. So I wanted to make my own elemental, and perhaps little by little complete the quartet of the four elements. The elemental I will draw today, and for which I created a small tutorial, is the fire elemental.
Hoy mientras navegaba en Pinterest en busca de inspiración encontré varios fan art sobre elementales o sobre los distintos elementos: agua, aire, fuego, tierra. Algunos con forma antropomórfica, otros más bonitos y caricaturescos. Así que quise hacer mi propio elemental, y quizás completar poco a poco el cuarteto de los cuatro elementos. El elemental que hoy dibujaré y para el cual creé un pequeño tutorial es el elemental de fuego.
As always, I’m sharing my tutorial sheet with the step-by-step, you just have to follow the arrows and the numbers. Also, even though I used digital tools (Ibis Paint), there are no limits to making your own fire elemental, even with just a simple pencil and paper. It’s one of the simplest drawings I’ve ever made.
Como siempre les comparto mi hoja tutorial con el paso a paso, solo tienes que seguir las flechas y los números. Además, aunque yo utilicé herramientas digitales (Ibis Paint), no hay límites para hacer tu propio elemental de fuego, aunque sea con un simple lápiz y un papel. Es uno de los dibujos más simples que he hecho.
When I had my whole sketch ready, I decided to continue by removing the extra lines that had served as guides, rounding strokes, and adding a few details. After spending some time fixing again and again a line I didn’t like, I ended up with this completely clean version of my fire elemental. Doesn’t it have a cute little face?
Cuando tuve todo mi boceto listo decidí continuar eliminando las líneas extras que me sirvieron de guía, redondeando trazos y agregando algunos pocos detalles. Así, después de un rato arreglando una y otra vez una línea que no me gustaba, tuve esta versión completamente limpia de mi elemental de fuego. ¿A que tiene una bonita carita?
Now all that’s left is to color, and here I really spent quite some time adding color, changing tones, adding some effects, and playing with lights and shadows. I ended up with this little flame that lights up an entire room in darkness. But remember, even the smallest fire is capable of causing a blaze. Ahora solo queda colorear y aquí sí estuve un buen rato dando color, cambiando tonos, agregando algunos efectos y jugando con las luces y sombras. Terminé con este fueguito que ilumina toda una sala a oscuras, pero recuerden que hasta el fuego más pequeño es capaz de provocar un incendio. Espero que les haya gustado este tutorial, me encantaría ver si dibujan nuevos elementales o si se atreven con otros elementos. Gracias por acompañarme un día más dibujando.
