I took these notes while watching a YouTube tutorial about the use and necessity of structuring drawings. Structure is where drawings have to begin; it's planning before adding details. It's like the skeleton of the drawing. With structure we can represent: size, location, pose. Everything has a basic structure, and creating it can serve as our guide. When we draw, we need to go from general to specific, leaving details for last, so we ensure everything is in its place. There are very famous structures like Andrew Loomis's for the face and human body.
Estas notas las tomé mientras veía un tutorial de YouTube sobre el uso y la necesidad de estructurar los dibujos. La estructura es por donde tienen que comenzar los dibujos, es planificar antes de dar detalles. Es como el esqueleto del dibujo, con la estructura podemos representar: tamaño, ubicación, pose. Todo tiene estructura base, y hacerla nos puede servir de guía. Cuando dibujamos hay que ir de lo general a lo particular, dejando los detalles para el final, así nos aseguramos de que todo esté en su lugar. Hay estructuras muy famosas como la de Andrew Loomis para el rostro y el cuerpo humano.
I practiced drawing some objects using structures. Most objects are composed of, or can be broken down into, simple shapes like spheres and cylinders. The hardest part is understanding not so much the shapes they are made of, but rather the perspective those shapes have.
Practiqué dibujando algunos objetos usando estructuras. Los objetos, en su mayoría, están compuestos, o se pueden descomponer, en formas simples como esferas y cilindros. Lo más difícil es entender no tanto las formas por las que están compuestos, sino la perspectiva que estas formas tienen.
The structure in animals behaves differently: there are more curves and rounded shapes, and the sizes and proportions of the shapes that compose them vary a lot. Sometimes I find it very difficult to draw animals precisely because of that, but there is no other solution than to try and keep drawing.
La estructura en los animales se comporta distinto: hay más curvas y formas redondeadas, además los tamaños y proporciones de las formas que los componen varían mucho. En ocasiones se me complica mucho dibujar animales y es debido justamente a eso, pero no hay más solución que intentarlo y seguir dibujando.
In humans it is also different, and the proportions and different body shapes have a great influence. Here is a small compilation of studies and structures on the human body that I have done.
En humanos también es distinto, y las proporciones y distintas formas de los cuerpos influyen mucho. Aquí un pequeño recopilatorio de estudios y estructuras sobre el cuerpo humano que he hecho.
