Hello, friends of Hive! I hope you are doing well. As for me, I've been busy with school activities and I also tell you that I went through a little "artistic block", where, although I managed to capture several ideas in sketches, I could not carry them out :( Has it happened to you?
Today, I present you some practice of facial anatomy that I have recently done.
I think it is never too much to keep learning and practicing everything I can in relation to art, so I am currently taking an online drawing course where, after a series of theoretical classes, they sent me a document with the exercises I had to do, which, as you will see, I had to make different faces in profile, including the views of the skull and the muscles of the face.
This kind of knowledge helps you to understand the distribution and position of the bones and muscles of the body and thanks to them what positions the body takes (and why) in certain situations, so, if you like character design (whether for comics, manga, animation or illustrations), drawing, painting, even sculpture, the ideal is to know and practice anatomical drawing as a base.
To begin to make the structure of the face in profile, I started drawing a sphere, then I divided it into four equal parts with a thin line, to which I made two more divisions horizontally, in turn, I drew a sphere between the two lines in the middle, taking care not to exceed them, in this way, the larger sphere would be my guide for the shape of the skull, while the smaller one would serve me to position the orea; the lines would help me to position the hairline, the eyebrows, the tip of the nose and the chin.
To make the base structure of the face I used a hard pencil, H lead. Once that was done, I used a soft pencil, 4B lead to highlight the contour of the face, eyes, eyebrows, ears, nostrils, mouth and hair, this way I get a cleaner finish even when the guide lines have not been erased.
These are the rest of the sketches I made, both male and female profiles.
Thank you very much for the support I have received so far, I feel more and more encouraged to continue growing in Hive with my art.
