Yay - it is Mermay!
Say what?!
Exactly!
That is how much I am lagging behind or how slow I am with my blogging these days...
I created this lovely mermaid over two months ago digitally on my iPad in my go-to painting app Procreate. At the time I participated in a little blog hop for “Mermay 2022 | Authors & Artists”.
Since I wasn't able to finish this new mermaid in time, I posted on my website a few images I painted traditionally last year. The funny thing is - that particular post was set to cross-post to Hive via EXXP plugin. However,...
... this is a snippet taken from said blogpost on my website... yeeeaaah... Dummy, me! LOL. I ended up cross-posting it manually. But one day I'll try again, just not today.
Back to today's mermaid. Procreate has this wonderful feature of recording a timelapse while you're painting. Personally, I find it quite mesmerizing watching a painting come to life like that. However, with 28414 paint strokes and a total of 18:40 h of painting time for this particular painting - over days and weeks, of course, I took a shortcut and instead created the gif below showing a few of the steps.
I imagined a somewhat mischievous mermaid pulling the anchor chain of a ship in order to get some poor souls into her tummy - hahaha.
There are a lot of details in the painting so I really recommend clicking on this first picture which is the final version and zooming in a little.
I hope you like it!
Have a great rest of your day!
Cheers,
