Hello Guys, hope y'all doing alright?!.
Here's my first big ballpen artwork since I started using the ballpen (which was June 2020π
).
I posted the artwork in my introductory post but I failed to show the WIP and tell y'all a little about it.
So here we go!!!
So I first made my sketch with my HB pencil, normally I'd use grid lines but I'm working on my free hand sketch, I'm trying to be less dependent on grid lines
After sketching out my figure, I got nervous to place my pen on the sketch because I was scared that I might mess it up.. I was scared because I pulled out a good sketch with my freehand and I didn't want to ruin another artwork π. But then, aren't our mistakes the beauty of the artwork?!π₯΄
I created my hair layers with cross hatching technique, then I scribbled on it to create the realism of the hair.
After working on the hair I was really impressed with myself and fear kicked in againπ .. how can I shade this kinda hair and ruin the artwork later with a wrong stroke.. my nervousness made me take weeks on this artwork.
I combined 3 techniques to achieve the skin texture (hatching, cross hatching and scribbling) but I learnt that scribbling alone can give you a realistic skin texture.
I began to work on the scars with the scribbling technique... Had to scribble thick and tiny on the scar.
Overtime I developed this habit of saving the eyes for the conclusion of my artworks, I like how it brings life into each piece when I shade it in at the end. There's this weird feeling I get from doing it yunno.π
