Hello Paint time fans! Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.
Today I have a how-to tutorial to show you.
I think I have mastered this tree process, so I decided to share my knowledge. I have watched many tree drawing tutorials, but I was still lost in figuring out to make them look right.
Some artists start their trees from the bottom, and then add the thinning branches as they go upward. Some artists start from the top of the tree, and then add from the farthest branches, thickening as they go down. As many times as I tried, I could not get a decent looking tree.
I can get around this by using the brush to add the leaves first, and then simply making lines down to look like trunks, but since the tree is the very first thing I tried to paint, I feel like I should have it down pat by now.
I have done a few fine looking trees, but they were a fluke. When I tried to do it again, I would have one side to thick with branches, or the branches were too thick in general. My tree trunks too, always looked too weak to hold all of the branches.
I decided to practice, and figure out what I was doing wrong, and how to fix it.
The result is in the video I made... once I figured it out.
Now all I need to do is create my trees the same way every time so that I have a style. When you see a painting, you will say,
"Oh, that looks like one of Simgirl's trees!"
I hope you are enjoying following along as I learn to paint.
If you are painting along with me, or the artists I am painting along with, please leave a pic of your creation in the comments.
