Previously I was trying modeling in 3D application. One of the is Blender. It was a free 3D program that can do 3d modeling and sculpting. I really love watching people making their own original character. So I decided to try and model my first head. The program that I used to sculpt this 3D head was the zBrush. I tried sculpting the head without any reference first to try to determine where is my current level of understanding the human head anatomy and the level of understanding the software itself. I had to search lots of guide on the internet on how to use the program at first. When I had understand the function of some of the basics control, I started my first ever head sculpting in a 3D software.
I started with a sphere. By using some of the basic brush. I tried to make some of the basic head figure.
This was the staring sphere.
This was the basic figure of the human head. This was for my reference on sculpting the head. It was really hard to understand on how to start sculpting the human head because I do not have any basic understandings of the real human head anatomy. So I just figure out to block some of the basic shape before I add more details.
This was after I added some ears shape and some detail on the face. It took me about 10 minute to get to this shape. It was very challenging to be honest.
This is the front view of the head sculpting.
This is the side view of the head sculpting. (It will be identical for the right side of the face)
This is the perspective view of the head sculpting.
Overall I was satisfied with the experience that I had but for the final result I think I need more time to sculpt. I hope someone who had experience in 3D character modeling can give me some advice.
Below are the time lapse of the head sculpting process.
That is all from me today. I hope that I can share more good content of my journey next time. Cheers!
