It's not just about capturing the shape; you also need to understand how the skin reacts to motion, how it pinches, folds and stretches, and how you can still see dents. You also need to know how to shade in form on the skin and how to blend the lines of veins into the skin of hands.
I'm going to delve further into the anatomy of hands, and it's quite eye-opening so far because I'm beginning to notice things in my older drawings of hands that I often overlooked.
