It was very hot morning when I came to hunt for the insects in little wood. So I had to get rid of the hot sun and tried to focus on this predatory insect. I was lucky to have such a place where this predator played around. This is the robber flies belong to Assilidae also known as assassin flies, "robber" refers to notoriously aggressive predatory habits that feed themselves with other insects by waiting in ambush and catch their prey in flight. It has stout, spinny legs with two large compound eyes which made this insect worth shooting. Fancy finding it perched on the wild grass without making a significant move so I could freely make shots from various angles. Here are some pics of robber fly that I found in the bushes near reservoir.
