Introduction
SEO or Search Engine Optimization subject is broad and complex for me. There are so many things to do and opportunities to explore that every time I receive an update from Neil Patel or any internet marketing experts on the said topic I get my head spinning. Don't get me wrong, it is an interesting subject and so powerful that you can bring your business to a higher plateau if you can master the subject.
It is my strategy to have a simpler approach, you can say they are my excuses. I have a full-time job, a father, and a husband. Also, it is also my choice to position my strategies so that later on I can build my system with little work to put in.
SEO is complicated because it is not just creating your content but also you need to collaborate with other creators so you can build the momentum of your own. Then when your size demands it, you have to delegate tasks in which you have to supervise if you do not want crappy service in exchange for your cash.
But I have a blog myself and even SEO is not my thing I need to have at least some decent structure to attract an audience to see my blog posts too. I am glad that Bluehost which is my website hosting provider sent me an email about a FREE guide on how to turn your blog into an amazing site.
I found a lot of good stuff in this FREE content that I am enthusiastic to share it with all of you. You can access it here . It is like a blogger's playbook that anyone can use no matter what level are they in in their blogging journey. Simply said, good for experts and beginners alike.
Going back to my situation, who is a blogger but not too much on SEO, I am glad to see a portion for that content on a simple SEO checklist. If I meet these criteria, at least I give my blog post a fighting chance to be seen by a number of people. I found this content to be of great value that I am to share it with you today.
Blog Post SEO Checklist.
After identifying a target keyword, there are certain on-page optimizations that you can use to ensure that search engines like Google knows what your content is about.
- Target keyword used in the meta title and meta description.
- Make sure the meta title is within the character count (50–60 characters).
- Target keyword used three times in the body copy.
*Target keyword used in at least one subheading. - Use secondary keyword at least once.
- Use a secondary keyword in subheading (if possible).
- Include at least two internal links. Include at least two external links to high-quality/relevant sources
I also have a Free Yoast SEO plugin to help me sort things out. This checklist though keeps me on check every time I think to write and edit my blog post. I know that it can be hard sometimes to create content and have these checklists in the back of your mind.
What I usually do is create and initially publish or put it in draft first. Then in my free time, get back to it and edit everything with these checklists now on my primary consideration. Now I think, with these checklists and daily practice I'll achieve my goals simpler and easier.
