Greetings Hive!
By now, most of the world's Easter celebrations are winding down and hopefully, everyone had a safe and happy Easter. I imagine most people, like us, celebrated with those closest to them and for those alone I am sorry.
Even though it's sad that people are in quarantine, maybe it's nice once and a while to simplify our celebrations and forget about the hustle and bustle of modern life and stressing to host the perfect easter party for the entire extended family.
This year, we had time for ourselves and it was really nice. I am going to spare everyone the long-drawn-out ”true meaning of Easter” post and just share a little bit about my family's celebration. It was simple and very effective.
Yesterday my wife and I decorated the eggs with the children; twin 3-year-old girls and our 5-year-old son.
They had a blast mixing the colors and soaking the eggs in the dye. It was stressful and messy but the kids were very well behaved and, to my surprise, only one egg broke and there were no major spills!
There was, however, 30 little stained fingers that will hopefully be clean in time for Christmas, we shall see!
Even though we were allowed to meet with up to 10 family members today in Germany, we kept it small only inviting my mother-in-law and my wife's brother over for Easter breakfast.
But before breakfast of course, the kids went out to find all the eggs, baskets of candy, and toys the Easter bunny brought them hidden in the garden.
It was so exciting to see the kids really into it and believing the Easter Bunny brought them all that stuff. To add icing on the cake, we saw the biggest jackrabbit I have ever seen hopping through the field right beforehand.
After a successful easter egg hunt, it was breakfast time:
even took the time to make her famous traditional easter lamb bread, it was delicious!
After breakfast, it was playtime all afternoon then we grilled out for dinner. The kids were so worn out they went straight to bed after dinner and so did my wife!
Tomorrow, the holiday in Germany continues with Easter Monday were most people are still off so it gives an extra day to relax and get stuff done around the house. Our project will be cleaning out our guesthouse that we have been using for storage.
Wishing you all a safe and happy Holliday.
