yesterday was one of the better days in a long list of shitty days in recent times but hey, who's counting right? I was once again bored of my room and decided to take a stroll to this clandestine bar called Landforce. I think I might have mentioned this before, but just in case I haven't, Landforce is one of those cheap guest inns that is reputed as a place where married men take their side pieces for some gland to gland combat.
Other than its reputation as aforementioned, they also sell cold beer and pepper soup, goat meat pepper soup to be precise. I had actually been craving it for a while now and I had a perfect excuse to get some; it is Saturday, so why the fuck not?
I got "dressed" and took a stroll with my friend Donald to the spot where we ordered the meal. Before the pepper soup came, we ordered our beers because, as I said, it is Saturday and I don't see why not.
Sorry if the image isn't detailed enough but this is the best I could do because I feel weird snapping my food
The pepper soup was totally worth the stress and at 500Naira or $1.1, I think it was worth the money too. The meat was steamed to tender perfection and just melted in my mouth with every bite, just the way I like it. The first bottle of beer I took was Star and it still holds the top spot in my beer ranking but there it is standing beside Gulder like two proud parents of the plate of Goat meat pepper soup.
It is safe to say that the pepper soup was good, a little too good if you ask me because it dragged quite a lot of flies towards our table and made us very uncomfortable. We had to switch seats and in that process, all my bearings got fucked up and I decided to try a new beer, or at least that's the story I'm going with.
Since Donald got stuck with me during the corona break, he's been raving about Tiger but my resistance to new beer kept me away from it. However, a combination of flies fucking up my brain and our budget enforced this beer on me.
The drink is pretty cool and at 200 Naira or like 50cents, I think it was totally worth it. Not like that mattered anyway because that's all I could afford. The beer is sort of rough around the edges in a good way and had this weird but exciting subtle brininess about it.
It really felt like a victory and in the words of Obama, what's a victory without a picture with painting on the wall? I just made that up but the point is, I took a picture with a cool painting on the wall
This brings us to the end of my weekend and the new week begins. So, how did you spend Saturday?
