I've been mauling over this decision for a couple of weeks now. I talked about my issue with the platform the last time someone tried to hack my account and how I don't trust or feel safe having my information there anymore.
Facebook is also "transparent" about their prying ways and if you still have an account with them, you can literally ask for a dossier that contains information about all your activities there, including private messages. I don't know about you but that makes me very uncomfortable and just the same way I signed up for it, I'm going to sign out of it.
The Last Straw
Yesterday I received this text message below that has my Facebook password reset key. If you use Facebook, then you'll know that this key is sent to you whenever you try to change your Facebook password and that would be fine if not for one tiny issue; I didn't ask for it.
So, yup, somebody's trying to hack my account for the umpteenth time and I find this to be quite ridiculous. I simply don't feel safe with having my information on that platform anymore and don't trust Facebook to protect my data.
I spent over 10 years of my life creating content for free around there and in that time, the platform has grown into a multi-billion dollar enterprise. For what it's worth, it is a pretty good racket that Mark and his cohorts are running, so kudos to them. In recent times, I've barely used the platform and even deleted the app from my phone some days ago. To put it plainly, I don't need Facebook, so I'm deleting Facebook.
