I have often heard that "what you believe in is what works for you". In a way I totally agree with that, well that is dependent on the "what"...if you choose to believe the negative things people say about you, or believe that things are going to remain the same without getting better, then I guess you already made your choice.
The beautiful but ugly truth about life is no one can help you better than you can help yourself and like said in the interview post "Life is like a radio station...you tune into what you want to get "...you are the captain of your own ship basically. Although we can't control what life throws at us but we can always find a way to make it work to our advantage and come out strong with lessons others can learn from...hopefully good ones.
Have you ever laughed through tears? That moment you are crying about a particular thing or situation you find yourself....but as you cry you begin to remember all you have been through and how you are still standing and at that moment you be like "fuck it" and you start smiling, laughing because you remember that you have gone through worse or similar stuff before but you have remained strong till now.
You may not be where you want to be today but be thankful that you are not where you used to be...instead you have become better than you were yesterday. You might not be in the best place right now but someone out there desperately wants to be in your place.
Life maybe a race but no one is the winner as you are your own competition.
Be thankful for what you have, work to get what you don't have and remain positive at all times...it may not be easy most times but things would surely get better.
