Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. – Robert Brault
I remember watching a video where the host (Simon Sinek) was talking about something similar as this and he delved into love talk with a question "Why do you think she fell in love with you"? Then he proceeded to explain how his actions were the major reason why. Those times he went to get coffee and never forgot to get hers. Those times he kissed her good morning even before he checked his phone. Those times he helped out with the chores even before she asked for his help.
Those little things he did over time consistently, made her look at him differently as he constantly pressed the button of her heart. It may not be a big deal at first but it became one in the long run because those "little" things were growing on her...an accumulation of all the little things became a big deal to her.
So is life, the things you deem little are the things that would be of more importance later. The little steps you take when starting up a business, may look so slow at first...just keep taking those steps. That is where consistency comes in, they go hand in hand. In taking these little steps, you need to be consistent in your doings or acts. You want to loose weight, you have to take it a day at a time, work out everyday or routinely, if you have one but you have to be consistent about it to see results.
Perfection of effort is not required, by the way. It is the consistency of attempting to work these tools that brings the progress. It’s like anything else. If I want to tone muscle, lifting a ten-pound weight a few times every day will move me toward my goal much quicker than hoisting a fifty-pound barbell once a week. Yes, it really is true: “Slow and steady wins the race.” Just try a little, every day. You’ll see. ~ Holly Mosier
Nowadays, people tend to look at the picture and most probably want to hit it big immediately. It is not a bad thing really, I want to see result immediately too...no one likes to wait. I remember trying to save money in my piggy bank back in high school. For the first week, I put a little sum of money in my piggy, then the next just a few times, then after that maybe once in a week lol.
Finally school was on hols, so I decided to see what I made. I was very excited to see what I have made but when I opened it up...what was inside couldn't even get a good chocolate lol. What am I trying to say, yes the money was little but if I had done it everyday...I pretty much would have gotten a good amount at the end of the term, then comes the regret.
Same goes for developing good habits, as the saying goes..."little drops of water, makes a mighty ocean", you have to start somewhere no matter how little it may seem and be consistent about it, in time you would see results for yourself.
It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It's what we do consistently. ~ Anthony Robbins
