Small roads and freeways are blockaded and this is just wrong. This will not end well for the Taxi Association.
I find this quite funny as there was a massive taxi strike today. Under normal circumstances these thugs would get away with it but people are not in the mood for such nonsense these days. Most people have been locked down and have lost pay due to this and need to get back to working.A majority of businesses are still shut so the ones able to work need to as no one knows when the lock down could open or close totally again.
The one thing the taxi operators didn't think of was the Army is currently on deployment. They are part of the Covid shut down enforcement and have today moved on to unblocking the roads. Normally the police would let the blockade happen and somewhere higher up would negotiate the ransom the taxi's were after. This time they feel it is unfair that they are operating at 70 percent capacity due to social distancing and want compensation through subsidies. Personally I think they are lucky they can operate at all and should shut their mouths as they are still able to operate unlike most of the country. They are now demanding a minimum of $1000 per taxi as a subsidy to help them continue. This will not happen and like everyone else have just got to suck up any financial loss right now.

What was good to see was that the Army gave them 5 minutes this morning to move their vehicles. They are currently going from one road block to another and having to get them shifted. Public transport is not like in other countries as the taxi association has made sure it has never flourished. They use intimidation and violence to keep their share of the market. The public transport industry is a mess and very few use it as it is generally unsafe anyway.
