Hello everyone, I'm Ace! I wanted my first post on Hive to be an introduction of myself, my plans, and what I've learned already in the short time I've known about Hive. About a month ago a friend told me about Splinterlands, and explained that you can actually get real rewards just for playing the game. He explained that there is an entire economy built around the game, and it is all housed on the Hive Blockchain. Now, this is the same friend who told me 10 years ago all about Bitcoin and how it was this new cool thing. 10 years ago I told him that Bitcoin sounded so sketchy and that an online currency was too intangible, and so I convinced him not to buy into Bitcoin. Instead, I probably should have listened to him about Bitcoin, or at least researched it some from a technical perspective before just dismissing it entirely. But the past is the past, and he's only a little bit bitter about the millions that could have been made from the initial $900 he wanted to put in 10 years ago. Anyway, this post isn't about Bitcoin, it's about the fact that ever since that day, I never gave myself the opportunity to really learn about what a Blockchain is, and how cryptocurrencies really work. Well this time when he told me about it, I listened, and when he asked if I wanted to work together with him, I agreed. So I've spent the last month working with my friend and learning about the Blockchain both through his interactions and by reading what all documentation I could find online, and now after about a month, I feel comfortable enough to really dive in on my own!
Now I'm going to talk about myself, which I really don't do very often. I've always had a passion for technology and music. I've played drums and piano since I was around 10 and really enjoy jazz music. As for technology, I built my own computer at around age 12 and made a career out of tech since I was 17 through a great opportunity that I was lucky to get. The category of technology I am most passionate about is fullstack web development, with the biggest emphasis on backend software development. I have engaged in many projects ranging from short and sweet to complex and lengthy, and at this point have the knowledge and confidence to be able to take on any web project. Personally, I also really enjoy gardening, hiking, swimming, and fishing, and I care a lot about nature and sustainability! I engage in life with a mindset of helpfulness, positivity, hope, and grace, and always want to utilize any knowledge, talent, or ability that I have to assist others, both personally and professionally. I take great enjoyment out of solving problems by creating systems, and enjoy learning about every aspect of the process or business in order to create systems that reflect the root issues and provide pathways to relieve them.
I'm very excited to see what I can create using the Hive Blockchain and am full of ideas about it's use cases and potential application. It's only been a month, but I feel like I am going to be able to help create something really special on Hive! In addition, I want to engage with the community every step of the way and bolster good relationships with peers, and I want to create posts that help to inform and assist others with the plans they have. Some of my ideas are just for fun, and others I think could really help people, and it's really exciting to feel comfortable enough with a platform to be able to do both!
Thank you so much for reading my introduction, hopefully it provides a little bit of insight into my personality! I plan on creating more posts periodically to keep everyone informed about my plans and projects, and I'm really looking forward to being able to engage with everyone else on the platform!
