My self introduction.
Hi dear friends,my name is Sadiq Abdulwasiu Mohammed and I am so delighted to be part of this family. I am a proud 25 years old and the first born of a responsible family. I am from Kogi state, the northern central part of Nigeria,Okene LGA to be precise and an Ebira by tribe. I am locally called Ohinoyi which means (King). I got to know about hive through a friend called Rheda and am pretty excited been a member.
I grew up under a strict parents who restricted my play time and association with friends and of cause that made me an introvert. My parents are always after little play with much studies and always wanted me to study medicine in the university and become a doctor. Being an obidient son and always trying to please my parents desire, I started seriouse studies. I applied for medicine and surgery during my JAMB registration but Guess what i was offered when d result came out? 😂 I was offered to study Botany in Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto at the northern part of Nigeria. They were not happy so I jokenly told them that their prayers have been answered, I will become a doctor of plants and ran outside to avoid my parents spanking my ass.
When I finally started my studies in the university, due to hw my parents brought me up I was faced with the challenges of associating with new people or making friends, am always on my own and always move far when I see some people trying to get close to me. 😂 It was so funny how these people think I would b the best as am always very serious reading. like I could study from 6pm to 5am without feeling sleepy, that made other students think I am a guru. little did they know that I hardly assimilate things and easily forget things. During group assignment when am always been selected to represent my group, then I realized that my parents restrictions to my social life has become a great challenge facing the public where I noticed how weird I sound when I try to speak to my team and during the presentation. So I began to work on my self seriously especially in my final year where i started getting to know the name of my coursemates. It was so funny that some of my course mate don't even know that am part of them. Let me not bore u with my academic details. I finished with a flying colors as a second class upper graduate. How could I ever forget my industrial training in my 300level at International Crop Research Institute for Semi Tropical Agriculture in Kano state Nigeria where my love for plant breeding developed and also tried relating with colleagues and farmers.
When I received my posting letter from NYSC to serve in Cross River state, the southern part of Nigeria I was shocked and wasn't happy Abt the state i was posted to because I have no relatives or friend over there. I had no option than to fulfill the right as a graduate. Before going, I already prepared my mind that I would explore all opportunity to social life, engage in all activities and made sure I changed my introvert lifestyle because I realized that after school in other to get a job or b productive an organization, it expected to be a good team player and socialize well. So when I got to d state at the NYSC camp, I was tested positive for COVID-19 and to b quarantined for 2weeks which breaks me down. I was clouded in my thoughts and seeing how my plans got crashed got me mentally disturbed. 2weeks after a second test, I was negative and released to join my corp members. I wasn't happy because I had just 1 week left before the NYSC camp closes but made sure I enjoyed the little time I had. Participated in parade competition, dancing competition and all kind of activities at the NYSC camp. It was really fun and noticed how much I have developed in relating with people and making new friends.
After NYSC camping, I was posted to Wilmar International, an agricultural business organization who are into the production and processing of oil palm crops where I developed the love for sustainable agricultural practices and due to my hardwork, honesty and dedication to duties, I was retained to handle the Estate nursery as a field Supervisor.
A year later, I got a job which I applied for to work as a field Officer in ETG Beyond Beans Foundation a nonprofit organization who are into agricultural extensions service and sustainability in cocoa production. This is where I presently work and i engage in community development and agricultural sustainability. Smiles... And for my parents, they have always been supportive and proud of me.
Thank u All.
