I've been seeing this challenge for a couple of weeks and as I miss traveling, I have decided to participate and go through my old photos from last years. Like this, I can relive the experience and look forward to my future trips.
This challenge has been started by and if you would like to participate just use the tag #travelathome.
In today's edition I will show you my favorite photos from my trips to the mountains. Well, who would have thought that I would start with the mountains, right? 😊
AMDEN
This is the place where we go with our visitors. It is easily accessible, and you only have to walk for about 30 minutes to enjoy this stunning view.
It is located in the canton St. Gallen, overlooking the Walensee with its crystal-clear turquoise water.
I remember when we went there with my in-laws. They were so happy and took too many photos. They were also surprised that you can get such views with almost no effort. My father in law keeps talking about Amden every time we visit them.
There is also a small restaurant serving local mountain dishes and different sorts of beer. They have a terrace with great views too. Perfect place to enjoy your beverage! (no beer for me)
I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
CHURFISTEN
Churfisten is a mountain range that consists of seven peaks - Selun, Frümsel, Brisi, Zuestoll, Schibenstoll,Hinterrugg, Chäserrugg.
They look inaccessible from the Walensee side but if you drive around to the Toggenburg district you will find a cable car that will comfortably bring you up to Chäserrugg. From there you can choose from various hiking trails - some of them are easy, other ones may be difficult. We took a more difficult trail and walked for several hours.
It was challenging but we were rewarded with fantastic views, fresh air, nice breeze, and lots of sunshine. And the best part was our picnic! Food in the mountains taste somehow better and I have no idea why 😊
MONTE SOLE
Monte Sole is towering above Naturno in Italy. My husband took me there for my birthday last year. It was a great surprise and we spent 4 days in an amazing vegan hotel.
We left home at 3 AM to be there at 8 AM. It was in summer and we could see beautiful sunrise above the mountains from the car. When we arrived we took a nap for a few hours as I was a little bit car sick because we had to drive through two mountain passes and it made my stomach flip upside down (almost literally), so I needed some time to rest.
I remember that it was so hot, and I got a sunburn at the beginning of our stay, but I still enjoyed myself. We were walking around all the time and drinking refreshing cocktails in the evening. I don't think that we will be able to do anything like it this year for my birthday, so I cherish these memories even more now.
I can't wait to be able to travel again!
Thank you for reading!
Cheers!
