It doesn’t look like the end of the quarantine is going to be anytime soon, and therefore I am glad to see another initiative from who asked us about what we want to achieve during this time.
I know that many people struggle with doing something productive during the quarantine as they are not used to being at home. They might not feel motivated, they might be afraid that they will lose their jobs, they might miss the social connections, the list could go on and on. And therefore, I think that creating a list of what we want to achieve is a great idea during this difficult time.
I must admit that there are not that many things that changed for me as I’ve been working from home for the last two years. However, it took me some time to get used to it and I can understand people who feel frustrated with this situation. It’s even worse when you can’t work from home, but you can’t go to work either. And this is our chance to do what we always wanted to do but we didn’t have time for it.
Now we have more time, so let’s not waste it and work on our goals!
Even though not much changed for me from the working perspective I still have much more spare time as I can’t see my friends, take a short walk instead of a long one, go to the mountains in the weekend, or see my family. I’m one of few people who don’t have Netflix subscription (I know, boring…) and my back starts hurting me when I spend all day on the sofa, so I had to come up with something creative.
Here are my goals for the quarantine:
- Daily workouts
I spend every morning at least 30 minutes on my workouts. I do a lot of HIIT exercises and bodyweight exercises every other day. What I do everyday is a plank and I want to be able to do the plank for 3 minutes by the end of April. Right now, I am at 1:30 minutes and I see a good steady progress every day. I believe I will achieve this goal!
I will also try to continue with my morning workouts once the quarantine ends as I feel so much better when I start my day actively.
- Gardening
About a week ago I started my gardening challenge at home. My goal is to plant something new every day by the end of April. I’ve already planted onions, celery, leeks, garden cress, and wheatgrass. I plan to plant some carrots, herbs, ginger, and start sprouts. I am so proud when I see my veggies growing well!
- Sourdough
I’ve wanted to make my sourdough starter for so long, but I have always found an excuse. It requires too much time and you have to take care of it. Two days ago, I have finally prepared my starter! He’s called Ignac and he’s doing very well so far.
My goal is to learn how to bake sourdough bread by the end of April. This is going to be challenging but I have a feeling that we are going to eat a lot of bread soon! And if it works out I can't wait to share it with my friends too! Once I can meet them again...
Can you see those bubbles? This is the proof that Ignac is doing very well.
- Stay in touch with my dad
I have never had a good relationship with my dad. I don’t want to talk much about details, but the fact is that we didn’t see each other for almost 10 years. It was my husband who convinced me to give him a chance several years ago.
I still don’t feel at ease when I talk to him, but I managed to forgive him. I usually try to minimise our phone calls to once a month, but I know that he feels anxious and lonely right now, so I made myself a promise to call him once a week. It is very challenging for me to keep it but I’m not going to give up. We agreed to talk every Sunday and I will stick to this schedule!
And maybe it won't be that bad and I will stay in touch with him more often after the quarantine as well.
These goals might not seem very exciting, but they are achievable, and this is what counts. I’m doing well so far, and I must admit that because of my goals I am even enjoying this quarantine 😊 It’s not that bad at all!
I would like to thank for this initiative and
and
for supporting it!
Thank you for reading!
Cheers,
Martina
