April 22 which is set to be the day of the earth has passed, but we have forgotten them. The garbage heroes who have guarded our earth. Before the Corona virus arrived, our beloved Earth already had a variety of complex problems. Civil War, Immigration, Politics, Economy and so on. Then we are again shocked by the news in the mass media about the rubbish which also takes part in the problems that are also facing by earth today.
Lack of human awareness, triggers an increase in garbage accumulation in every country in the world. How about in Indonesia?
Our country has also contributed to becoming one of the donors to increase waste in the world, especially plastic waste. There is no human consciousness. We often think that trash is a small thing for us (our selves). But if it is calculated by the number of earth's citizen, then we will be surprised by the amount of waste that is produced every day.
In 2019, according to data released by the government, Indonesia produced 68 tons of waste, including 9.5 tons of plastic waste. With a significant amount, of course we are not surprised that plastic rubbish starts to scatter in the oceans, rivers, gutters and so on.
The impact is also very terrible, I have read that there was a whale that died due to plastic trash in the ocean, it's so sad.
Without realizing it, humans themselves also make the Earth more chaotic, the awareness that we have is very lacking to protect the earth, especially in terms of disposing trash properly.
On one occasion, I have to see photos (He our friend in Indonesian Hive Community and also the freelances journalism at the city), That photos He took when he was visited one of the garbage dumps in our city, Lhokseumawe, Aceh-Indonesia.
The gerbage rubbish looks surprised me. This is the first time I look a garbage dump from this photos. The place was a garbage dump from all regions in our city.
Workers are seen busy sorting out recyclable waste (plastic, iron, aluminum, etc.), while waste that cannot be used is then burned. Seeing their work I feel sad, between the piles of garbage and cow dung (coincidentally the cows of the community make the garbage collection as their land for food). What is in your mind when you see their work?
They are heroes for our earth, but who cares? and I thought at the "Earth Day" moment we are does without any Respect to them-- the Trash Hero.
