A Reflection of Some Extraordinarily Beautiful Lighting During The Puja Period
12.07.2020
Here are some pictures of different designs of lighting. These lighting fixtures are usually made in Durga Puja. Durga Puja is one of the biggest pujas among our Bengali Hindus. This Durga Puja is performed once a year and it is performed in a very pompous manner.
This puja is the only one among the Hindus of Bangladesh in Asia and Durga puja is more prevalent in West Bengal of India. However, Durga Puja is the biggest festival in our two districts of West Bengal, India, and these two places are very famous for Durga Puja.
These two famous places are our city of Kolkata and one is near the Bangaon border. Every year innumerable people from different places come to these two places to see the puja. However, there is usually a lot of hustle and bustle in Kolkata. Because Durga is worshiped in most of the areas in Kolkata and it is worshiped in various alleys and corners of Kolkata, so it is impossible to finish the worship by looking at the lighting.
The last 2-3 days of the night can not be seen in the last big area. Besides, the lighting on the roads is so beautiful that it takes more time to see them, because everyone enjoys the lighting during the puja. During Puja, these lights are on all the streets of Kolkata city, villages and even other places from evening to dawn.
And Bangaon is usually a rural area, here too a lot of places are worshiped but not as big as in Kolkata. It can be seen everywhere in one night. The lighting in Bangaon is very beautifully designed by the technical staff. The lighting is so beautiful in these two places that it takes a whole night to see it.
More than seeing these lighting after seeing the idol. My friends and I visit Puja in two places every year and enjoy the lighting. Because these beautiful lights fall in front of the eyes. Every year we go to see the puja in Kolkata and then go to see the puja in Bangaon.
In Kolkata, we usually go out at 11 a.m. after eating puja to see the puja, and after puja and lighting all night, we go home again in the morning. In Kolkata, the lighting can be seen immediately, but it takes a long time to visit the idol. If you want to see the idol in each pandal, you have to see a line between 500-600 people.
And there it takes 1-2 hours to pull the line to visit the idol. So we see puja in Calcutta for 3-4 days, but we can't see the end. When walking, standing, the condition of the feet gets worse, it hurts so much that it is not possible to stay in the condition of walking.
Even then, the funniest thing is that at this one time of the year, it's fun to see all the friends worship together for miles, which is not the case at any other time. When you get tired of watching the whole night, everyone sits in one place, rests, talks about different things, everyone has a great moment with all these things.
Then after visiting Kolkata we set off towards Bangaon in the evening and after visiting all night we took some rest and returned by train with people from different parts of the country. In these two places I see different types of lighting from the beginning to the end, more or less I capture some scenes of these beautiful lighting with my phone camera.
It is really commendable that our local technicians here decorate these lights with such beautiful handicrafts. It looks like they have magic in their hands. First they raise it with bamboo sticks at different ends of the road then arrange their boards all over the place with bamboo sticks.
These boards drill holes designed by their hands and they then arrange the lights in these holes to see the lights of different colors on top of those designed photos. Their handiwork is so good that people like to put it on. Before Puja, they decorate these lights day and night with equal effort. During Puja, when everyone sees these lights and appreciates them a lot, they have a lot of joy in their minds and consider themselves successful.
