So there's a small park park in Warren Rhode island.
It's on the corner of Baker Street
and Water St.
It sits adjacent to one of the local restaurants The Warf Tavern.
I've driven past this park on numerous occasions. Never really thinking much about it. Usually I'm scurrying back and forth between deliveries, my mind strictly on the task at hand.
Yet something about this park drew my attention. On that day it was sunny and warm. Yet this quaint little park was empty. I found it odd, but then I remembered that the parks in Rhode Island were closed. Though I was working at the time, I made a mental note to write a post on it.
My opportunity came as I left a friend's house and decided to go for a midnight stroll. Originally I was going to write about a sad little park waiting to be reopened. Yet to my surprise the gates were open.
Rhode Island had reopened it's parks. So despite the slight rain, and the fact that is was close to midnight. There seemed to be a sense of anticipation for this little park.
I know I could have come back on a sunny day. Yet I felt that the rainy night was somewhat fitting for this little park's current situation. It was in transition from forbidden to welcomed.
Maybe now people will take a minute to appreciate it's uniqueness. To enjoy it's well thought out design. Though the lot of this park is small. The thought and planning that went into it's design is notable. To anyone paying attention. Even the spot chosen has a history behind it.
In terms of a grandeur, this park is modest. Limited in it's options. It's most obvious play vessel is the bright red ship. Awaiting it's guest arrival.
Loaded with all the creative gadgets, needed for a journey into the world of imagination.
It's top deck just waiting for the young captains to take charge.
And of course every good ship needs a slide.
There's a few other odd attractions.
Overall the design of this park, is what I found pleasing, and comfortable. There's a few trees that perfectly cover the park.
There's also a plethora of small details to entertain the mind.
So if you ever find yourself in Warren Rhode island, you are bound to end up on Water St. As you walk along the street passing it's buildings. Many of the built in the 1800s. Once your done browsing the small shops, and dining at a few of the best seafood restaurants. Don't forget to stop by and say hello to this little gem hidden in plain sight.
