Hello Hivers!
I hope you’re in the best of spirits. We’ve almost reached the end of this year and so begin the list of festivities. One such festival being - DIWALI.
‘Diwali’ aka ‘the festival of lights’ is the epitome of celebration, for most of us Indians. This is probably the only festival I ‘celebrate’ actively. Personally, I am not a fan of one such Mr Ram who returned to Ayodhya from his mid life adventure albeit this festival celebrates that event. Implicitly, Diwali symbolises the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. I’ve never understood the point of rituals if one doesn’t understand the essence of it. So this Diwali, sit back and think : WHY EXACTLY ARE YOU CELEBRATING, WHAT YOU’RE CELEBRATING?
Let’s not make ‘good over evil’ a superficial reflection of crime vs humanity. It’s not about evil person X losing against nice person Y. It’s the demon in you against the human in you. High time we acknowledge the demons within us? Let’s make it more about us, shall we?
So, this Diwali, here’s what I wish for myself and for all:
⁃ I hope you achieve all that you deserve.
⁃ I hope you have the strength to absorb all that you achieve.
⁃ I hope you attain your inner peace.
⁃ I hope you inculcate patience to wait for what’s in store for you.
⁃ I hope you resolve any kind of enmity with anyone else.
⁃ I hope you find the people you lost.
⁃ I hope you lose the people who make you lose yourself.
⁃ I hope your crush likes you back.
⁃ I hope you get your dream job.
⁃ I hope you forgive and get forgiven.
⁃ I hope you can buy that car for your parents.
⁃ I hope your ego doesn’t weigh you down.
⁃ I hope you stop underestimating yourself.
⁃ I hope you see what an amazing human being you are and how we all are grateful to have you around.
The list is exhaustive but most importantly- I HOPE THAT YOU HOPE TOO. Don’t give up on hope or yourself. It’s okay to have cracks because that’s where the light gets in from - cliche but true! Work on yourself. Work on being - good; That simple yet beautifully complex. To begin with - listen to yourself because there’s no guide better than your whole damn self. Mould yourself to be better not just for others but yourself. Humility is everything. So before I wind up my mini TedTalk, here’s an apology - to myself for being hard on myself all the time and to the people I’ve hurt - intentionally or unintentionally.
To the ones who are not in the state to celebrate for whatsoever reason, I hope you find strength and reason to celebrate again. Happy Diwali to all of you. Wishing nothing but the best for you ♥️
Finally, if you’re still reading this - I love you. Even if you aren’t reading this - I love you 😂 I love you for existing and I shall be grateful for it always.
Happy Diwali 🪔
Love,
Eisha Sathish Shetty.
