Taking a closer look at the year 2020,it was really a tough one and a year we'll always live to remember. Ever before the lockdown it was almost an impossible scenario to imagine a case whereby the whole world would be on hold, shops been locked, streets empty, and a gloomy feeling just seemed to be in the air.
Personally, 2020 just seemed to pass in a seconds, there was actually very little I was able to accomplish in that year.
One of the few things I learnt during the lockdown period was how to tell the time, by looking at the reflection of the sun across the wall of my room, really! it has been said that if you sit in a dark room for some time, your eyes would adjust to darkness, so you can see. That was exactly what happened, I got stare so much at my room wall for days, so much I noticed a pattern between the time, sun and shadows.
But on a more serious note, as a student the lockdown entended my educational program by a year, (and it also made me pay for a house I never slept in, even for a single day), although all this are minor cases because I know of people who lost more than all this, and I hope they get to recover and stand their feet once more.
On the other hand, although the covid-19 pandemic disrupted a lot of things, I also noticed a few good things also. For example, in my environment the lockdown opened people up to the idea and importance of agriculture: you know during the lockdown, foodstuffs were hardly available and the little available were highly priced, and this forced people to go into agriculture by themselves, at some point people began to convert their compounds into farmlands where they planted crops like corn, cassava, e.t.c.
In conclusion, we all know that in every good there's also some bad and via versa: as the pandemic brought some families closer, it also took some families away forever, as it opened up new channels for improving some businesses, it also tore some down. In most places, the lockdown has been eased but the pandemic is still out there, so let us always remeber to wash our hands regularly, use your facemasks, and maintain social distance whenever we are in crowded areas. By following this steps, we'll be able to keep ourselves and family safe.
