I don't know much about those furry buggers, but I do see them often feeding on pollen on various plants. Oh the zoomed photos I noticed that they are covered in sand. Could it be that they sleep though the winter dug up in the soil (or sand, since the area is very sandy) and they just woke up and crawled up? It was one of the warmer days this year.
Or their larvae, or whatever they hatch from, and when the time is right the transform to a hairy bugger and crawl up...
The sand didn't get that on it own!
This one found a mother load and waved on his buddies to come feast too.

It is funny to see them all on one flowers eating together. No pushing, no fighting, just eat fast go find another one.
There were other flowers around, but only this one was so popular.
