INTRODUCTION
In this post am gonna share with you all the experience of a trip that i recently had, to a hill station named Kalyanathandu in Idukki . And i want to show you guys the stunning views from the peak of Kalyanathandu.
IDUKKI - THE QUEEN OF MISTY HILLS
Idukki is a district in the state Kerala, India. The beautiful land of Idukki offers myriad landscapes and experiences to enchants its visitors. These include the charming hill stations filled with expansive tea and coffee plantations, unending spice gardens and a panoramic view of the misty hills. Whether on a family outing or a romantic escapade, the hill stations in Kerala provide ample opportunities for an exciting and unforgettable trip.
OUR JOURNEY TO THE MISTY HEAVEN
When i first tasted the joys of travel during my collage days , i wrote a list of destinations . A sort of to-do list. The very first destination that i wrote was a little known hill station named kalyanathandu.
When plans for a weekend excursion to Moonar started germinating, there was hardly any excuse to not visit this particular hill station . So i told my cousins about this spot and they were also excited to see this hill station. Although, with not much information available even now, we had no idea how the roads were, what kind of terrain would we have to cover to reach the point and most importantly for my cousins , would we encounter leeches.
An early start , as i always endorse , was treated with much respect by my cousins . We covered much ground in the morning . After passing the famous idukki dam, which is the 3rd largest arch dam in whole asia, we spotted a sign board for Kalyanathandu.
We entered through a gate where we all need to take tickets.
Our first view wast just breathtaking .

Not a single sound distured that place. The only sound was the gentle rustling of grass in the breeze. We were speechless and we all stood there and admired the beauty of mother nature.

The western side of the hill throws open more panoramic views. A rough road connects everything and I walked over to the western side to explore and to find more stunning views and i was not disappointed.

The sky grew darker through the afternoon. Before long, the calm was interrupted by the sound of thunder in the distance. Kalyanathandu deserved a lot more time. But like Anita Deasi said "wherever you go becomes a part of you"
So if you plan to visit the state, do take a break from the famed backwaters and beaches for a trip to one of these Kerala hill stations for the fresh mountain air and scenic views. You will not be disappointed.
Kalyanathundu hills is about 10 Kms from Idukki and we can reach the hill top by Jeep or we can walk up. The view from the hill top is marvelous.
