Esta mañana estaba navegando como todos los dias en Youtube y me he conseguido un video con critica bastante contundente contra algunos de los aspectos de Hive, el video hace unos buenos aportes al debate asi que decidi traducirlo al ingles y compartir un poco mis opiniones sobre cada punto que trata (en total son 7).

Esta critica viene de un Youtuber que ayudo mucho a la comunidad de Steemit en la integracion de usuarios hace ya un tiempo, ahora esta en Hive pero al parecer ciertas "comunidades" han sido hostiles en sus practicas y eso puede haberlo impulsado de una u otra manera a hacer este video donde critica duramente Hive y algunas de sus tribus.

El canal de Youtube es PonlePausetv con un poco mas de 90.000 suscriptores por lo que es un numero bastante grande y sobretodo es un numero muy grande de usuarios que ven sus videos hacia la plataforma, me parece digno revisarlo porque es tambien uno de los que mas usuarios inscribe en la plataforma a traves de sus videos explicativos. Y pienso que es buena idea hacer un resumen e ir colocando nuestras opiniones para poder sacar algo positivo de todo esto.

El audio original esta en español asi que mas abajo expondre con lineas de tiempo punto por punto lo que menciona y dare mi opinion al respecto, el podcast no tiene desperdicio asi que les recomiendo escucharlo.

1. 00:00 - 7:10 | "Hive no es una red social y esta pesimamente hecha"

Se que para muchos Venezolanos Hive se ha convertido en una de sus fuentes de ingreso o en algunos casos en la unica fuente de ingreso por ello defienden a Hive a capa y espada sin darse cuenta que solo hacen las cosas peores [...] he visto muchas cosas buenas de Hive pero tambien me ha tocado ver la peor cara de la plataforma, la persecucion, la censura, Por lo que hay que tener claro desde un principio que Hive no es una red social, es una blockchain en la que se desprenden diferentes aplicaciones sin embargo esta tan mal hecha que lo que publiques en una aplicacion se compartira automaticamente en todas las demas por lo que si en una aplicacion que enfoca en memes tu puedes compartir tus memes ahi pero puedes meterte en problemas en Hive.blog o en Peakd porque alguna ballena esta molestando [...]

[...] Asi que si ves a Hive como una oportunidad para crear tu comunidad tienes que tener en cuenta que las reglas de Hive no son nada claras y aunque tu puedes poner tus propias reglas en una comunidad te perseguiran las reglas de las demas personas con mas poder, basicamente las personas que tienen el dinero son las que ponen las reglas y las que pueden hacer lo que les de la gana. Te vas a encontrar a muchas personas diciendo que no puedes hacer una cosa u otra para luego encontrarte a esas mismas personas con poder rompiendo las mismas reglas que te colocaron hace 5 minutos. [...]

Podemos poner de ejemplo el autovoto por el cual dicen que no puedes votar tus propias publicaciones y hasta hay una lista negra para las personas que lo hacen pero luego vez a esos usuarios que tienen poder y tienen dinero autovotarse todos los dias sin consecuencias y en cantidades increiblemente altas y tambien puedo poner de ejemplo a las multicuentas de las ballenas, pero la realidad es solo una. Hive es una plataforma descentralizada y por lo tanto no hay reglas aparte de no robarse contenidos de terceros y otras reglas aceptadas por la comunidad, pero hay otras reglas que pienso no tienen nada que ver y creo que se han creado como una especie de paradigma.

Este es un punto que para mi se acerca mucho a la realidad de Hive hoy en dia, cuantas veces nos han dicho que esta mal hacer multicuentas o el autovoto pero horas despues esos mismos que impusieron las reglas tienen las mismas conductas que los que las "rompen"? me parece que si van a haber reglas concretas en la plataforma deberian aplicarse a todos por igual y no solo a los que no tienen poder de voto para defenderse.

2. 7:10 - 11:00 | Censura y persecusion en Hive

Pero quien hace cumplir estas reglas? te estaras preguntando, bueno al principio cuando entras a la plataforma te lo venden como algo libre, descentralizado, sin ningun tipo de censura, es tu espacio tu comunidad tu tienes el control y puedes hacer lo que quieras y yo he hecho mi comunidad y he puesto mis reglas, pero sucede que nada de eso importa porque siempre esta algun vigilante en Hive que aunque sean personas comunes y corrientes como el resto, se creen mejor solo por ser apoyado por las cuentas con mucho poder y hasta en algunos casos piden identificaciones como fotos y carnetizacion para "verificar" tu cuenta pero si niegas es un claro baneo de la plataforma. No estoy obligado a dar informacion a terceros, no estoy obligado a compartir mi foto, mi numero de telefono o cualquier otro contacto, pero hay muchas policias como Hivewatchers que se aprovechan de su poder. Y es que repito en Hive no hay unas reglas per se y ningun individuo puede sacarse una nueva regla de manga e imponerla a los demas usuarios [...]

[...] Y aqui es donde llegamos a la censura y es que cuando la mayoria de los grandes usuarios hablan de Hive la describen como un lugar magico en donde ningun tipo de censura puede afectar tu contenido y como ya vimos las reglas las crea quien les de la gana y no hay que prestar atencion a esos individuos que las imponen, pero cuando hablamos de censura entramos en un tema que escapa del entendimiento popular y es que esta plataforma es muy restrictiva para todo el que quiera compartir opiniones que no son muy populares, y cuando hablo de opiniones no muy populares me refiero a comentarios que no le agraden a 4 o 5 personas que tienen todo el poder de voto.

Para nadie es secreto que en la plataforma existen varias comunidades que no tienen consciencia del poder que tienen y "censuran" todo tipo de contenido que no cumplan con los estandares de sus propios egos, ya ha pasado con Jaguar.Force y estoy seguro que hay muchas mas personas abusando del poder que les da quiza ingenuamente ese pequeño combo de personas que tienen la mayoria del dinero. Pienso que es un punto muy valido pero no podemos meter a todas las ballenas en un mismo hoyo cuando una mayoria tambien vela por el crecimiento de la plataforma.

3. 11:00 - 16:00 | Tendencias manejadas por dinero

Como ya dije antes, para que un usuario llegue a ser tendencia con su post se necesita mucho dinero es decir un gran voto de alguna ballena y es aqui mi problema: una sola persona detras de una cuenta de un grupo de curacion o detras de una ballena puede o bien hacerte tendencia o silenciarte en la plataforma sin posibilidad de retorno, tambien existe la constante molestia de los grupos de curacion con trails que no son para nada organicos (solo son un monton de usuarios agarrados a una ballena para recibr migajas) pero lo que mas molesta son los grupos de curacion que se llenan la boca hablando de que ayudan a la comunidad cuando en realidad solo es una persona detras de la cuenta entrando una vez al dia, votando lo que ve medianamente bien acomodado y despues haciendo un reporte de curacion con esos mismos post y pagandose a si mismo 20$ para luego seguir en sus discords personales.

Todos tenemos muy claro que el sistema de "tendencias" debe cambiar hacia uno mucho mas enfocado en la interaccion que en el dinero y dandole mucho mas enfasis a los usuarios y los post de los usuarios que si poseen engadgement.

La entrevista posee otros 10 minutos de contenido en donde habla sobre los witness o sobre como algunas comunidades hispanas son toxicas y no tienen tacto pero creo que dejare eso para otro post. Hay que tomar todas estas criticas, canalizarlas e intentar resolver y explicar de la forma mas profesional posible. Estamos hablando de un youtuber que ha servido muy bien a la comunidad invitando a muchas mas personas que casi todos los witness y pienso que es un momento de analizar y sacar conclusiones, no es facil pero hay que acerlo por el bien de Hive.

This morning I was surfing as every day in Youtube and I got a video with quite strong criticism against some of the aspects of Hive, the video makes some good contributions to the debate so I decided to translate it into English and share a little my views on each point it deals (in total there are 7).

This criticism comes from a Youtuber who helped a lot to the Steemit community in the integration of users some time ago, now he is in Hive but it seems that certain "communities" have been hostile in their practices and that may have driven him in one way or another to make this video where he criticizes Hive and some of its tribes.

And I think it's a good idea to make a summary and put our opinions to get something positive out of all this.

The original audio is in Spanish so below I will explain with time lines point by point what it mentions and I will give my opinion about it, the podcast has no waste so I recommend you to listen it.

1. 00:00 - 7:10 | "Hive is not a social network and it is badly made"

I know that for many Venezuelans Hive has become one of their sources of income or in some cases the only source of income so they defend Hive at all costs without realizing that they only make things worse [... I have seen many good things about Hive but I have also seen the worst side of the platform, the persecution, the censorship, so we must be clear from the beginning that Hive is not a social network, is a blockchain in which different applications are released but is so badly done that what you publish in one application is automatically shared in all others so if an application that focuses on memes you can share your memes there but you can get into trouble in Hive. blog or on Peakd because some whale is bothering you [...]

[...] So if you see Hive as an opportunity to create your community you have to keep in mind that the rules of Hive are not at all clear and although you can set your own rules in a community you will be persecuted by the rules of other people with more power, basically the people who have the money are the ones who set the rules and can do whatever they want. You're going to find a lot of people saying you can't do one thing or another and then find those same powerful people breaking the same rules that you were set 5 minutes ago. [...]

We can take as an example the self-vote by which they say you can not vote your own posts and there is even a blacklist for people who do but then you see those users who have power and have money to vote for themselves every day without consequences and in incredibly high amounts and I can also take as an example the whales multi accounts, but the reality is only one. Hive is a decentralized platform and therefore there are no rules apart from not stealing third party content and other rules accepted by the community, but there are other rules that I think have nothing to do with it and I think they have been created as a kind of paradigm.

This is a point that for me is very close to the reality of Hive today, how many times have we been told that it is wrong to multicount or self-vote but hours later those same people who imposed the rules have the same behaviors as those who "break" them? It seems to me that if there are going to be concrete rules on the platform they should apply to everyone equally and not only to those who have no voting power to defend themselves.

2. 7:10 - 11:00 | Censorship and persecution in Hive

But who enforces these rules? You may be wondering, well at first when you enter the platform it is sold as something free, decentralized, without any censorship, it is your space your community you are in control and you can do what you want and I have made my community and I have put my rules, but it happens that none of that matters because there is always some watchman in Hive that even though they are ordinary people like the rest, they think they are better just because they are supported by the accounts with a lot of power and even in some cases they ask for identifications like photos and meat to "verify" your account but if you deny it is a clear ban from the platform. I am not obliged to give information to third parties, I am not obliged to share my photo, my phone number or any other contact, but there are many cops like Hivewatchers who take advantage of their power. I repeat, there are no rules per se and no individual can take out a new rule and impose it on other users [...]

And this is where we get to censorship and when most of the big users talk about Hive they describe it as a magical place where no kind of censorship can affect your content and as we saw the rules are created by whoever they want and do not have to pay attention to those individuals who impose them, but when we talk about censorship we enter into a subject that escapes popular understanding and that is that this platform is very restrictive for anyone who wants to share opinions that are not very popular, and when I talk about not very popular opinions I mean comments that do not please 4 or 5 people who have full voting power.

It is no secret that there are several communities on the platform that are unaware of the power they have and "censor" all kinds of content that does not meet the standards of their own egos, has already happened with Jaguar.Force and I'm sure there are many more people abusing the power that gives them perhaps naively that small combo of people who have most of the money. I think that's a very valid point but we can't put all the whales in one hole when a majority also watches over the growth of the platform.

3. 11:00 - 16:00 | Trends driven by money

As I said before, for a user to become a trend with his post it takes a lot of money that is to say a big vote from some whale and that's my problem here: a single person behind a healing group account or behind a whale can either make you trend or silence you on the platform with no possibility of return, there is also the constant annoyance of the healing groups with trails that are not at all organic (just a bunch of users clinging to a whale to receive crumbs) but what is most annoying are the healing groups that fill their mouths talking about helping the community when in reality it is only one person behind the account entering once a day, voting on what he sees as moderately well off and then making a healing report with those same posts and paying himself $20 and then following up on his personal disagreements.

We are all very clear that the system of "trends" must change towards one much more focused on interaction than on money and giving much more emphasis to users and user posts than if they have engadgement.

The interview has another 10 minutes of content where he talks about the witnesses or how some Hispanic communities are toxic and tactless but I think I'll leave that for another post. You have to take all these critics, channel them and try to solve and explain in the most professional way possible. We are talking about a youtuber that has served the community very well by inviting many more people than almost all the witnesses and I think it is a time to analyze and draw conclusions, it is not easy but we have to do it for the good of Hive.
