Today I want to invite you to a small walk around the old town of Kerkyra. You might know it as Corfu but either way it is one of the most beautiful places you can visit in Greece and as a bonus you'll get the feeling of a trip to Italy too :)
Corfu, also known as "Door of Venice" was occupied by the Venetians for almost 4 centuries. It is not a surprise that they have left a strong footprint on the architecture, the customs or even the language of the island!
During the Middle Ages Corfu was the "red line" of the Europeans against the Ottoman Empire. It became one of the most fortified places of that era and the Ottomans never crossed the Adriatic sea!
When I visited (not this year) it was February and the weather was a bit unstable. So my walk has it all! Sunshine, clouds, a little rain, even some night shots!
OK I didn't took all of them in the same day, but I could have!
So I'll make a flexible interpretation of the collaborated challenges of Wednesday Walk hosted by and MakeMeSmile by
and enter with this post although it is the result of several walks! One of them was on Wednesday though :)
Stay safe and greetings from Greece!
All the pictures and the words are mine.
